Blink in the Raw
This book is not the greatest and could be done a little better but who cares? If you are truly into blink, I highly suggest purchasing this book to learn more about them in their earlier days before enema of the state and take of yout pants and jacket. I got this book thinking that it was going to be horrible, and in some aspects it is, but personally I am a sit in my room obsessing about blink, so I like it. If you want a Blink 182 book that is more well done and more recent, check out tales from beneath you mom, written by Anne Hoppus, Mark Hoppus's (the bassist of Blink)mother. Also Urethra chronicles 1 and 2 are great videos to check out. I advise all those Blink fans out there to get this book (even though it has its flaws) because this book does contain some good and fun info! ENJOY! GO BLINK 182!!!

Blissed Out: The Raptures of Rock
Published in Paperback by Serpent's Tail (October, 1990)
Authors: Simon Reynolds and Bill Albert
Average review score:

Utterly entertaining & heady; just like the music he covers.
Quite possibly the best intellectual analysis of rock ever written. Best, not because of some high-falutin' connection to past ideology or current trends. Rather, the best because it is a series of articles (mostly from Melody Maker) about important artists (My Bloody Valentine, the Pixies, Morrissey, Prince...) by someone who obviously is in love with the music he's disecting. Forget Geil Marcus (too much in love with his ideas), Reynolds is the real deal

Blues & Rock Harmonica

A book to come back to
This is a great book - probably the best book I've read so far. It has alot to offer for both beginners and people who know their way around the harmonica. You don't have to be able to read music because chords, riffs and notes are explained in terms of steps in the scales. There are alot of nice riffs and 17 solos to practice to and the book comes with a Cd that helps to understand the riffs, solos and techniques I think it was a bit complicated to understand the way he explained the notes in terms of steps, but I learned a great deal about how you can translate the way of thinking in one key to another. He explained very well how you can think when you play a solo. The riffs and solos gave me hours of practice - and still does. This book is a book that I comes back to from time to time because the more I learn to play the better I can understand some things in the book. He explaines how blues- and rockmusic are build and the differences between them. There is a great discography in the end with good examples of great harmonica records. If you never have played the harmonica I would recommend that you try to find another easier book to start with. But if you are willing to study and willing to get a great lesson in blues- and rockharmonica this is a book for you!

Blues and Rock Harmonica Made Easy
Published in Paperback by Musical Idiot Press (November, 1993)
Author: David Harp
Average review score:

SUPERB book for the beginner!
I've been tooting simple melodies on a harmonica for years, and decided to actually learn jazz/blues harmonica for fun. Tried another book first and became frustrated at the teaching technique. Picked up THIS book and was able to play decent sounding chords & licks within minutes! His instructional style is excellent, building on popular chord combinations and licks that we've all heard in popular music. Once I was able to create some self-satisfying "joyfull noise", it was easy to keep going to refine the noise into something better. Another great thing is that his chord combinations match those on my Suzuki Q-Chrd, so I now have some auto-accompanyment. I HIGHLY recommend this book to ANYONE who ever thought about playing a harmonica. I also bought his Music Theory book several years ago and highly recommend that as well. Harp is an excellent teacher!

Bob Dylan : A Bio-Bibliography
Published in Hardcover by Greenwood Press (April, 1993)
Author: William McKeen

' A No-Nonsense Guide to the Life & Work of the Artist '
The moment I picked this work up, it was difficult to put down. A factual, fascinating look into Bob Dylan's life and work, including statistical facts regarding the artist's frantic appearance history. If your looking for long drawn out philosophical opinions of Professor Dylan's work, this is not the book for you. I found it to be refreshingly factual. One conclusion I drew from the author is that he profoundly admirers the subject and his work, as I do. I highly recommend this book and thank the author for writing it.

Bold As Love: The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Published in Hardcover by Metro Books (October, 1996)
Authors: Frank Moriarty and Noel Redding
Average review score:

Jimi fans- buy this book
"Bold As Love- The Jimi Hendrix Experience" is a great book on Jimi, whether you're an old fan or someone who wants an introduction. It gives a well-balanced, brief bio of JH in 115 photo-packed pages. Speaking of photos, this book really delivers in that department. Many full- and half- page photos in their original glory brilliantly illustrate the many fascinating moods of uh, maybe the coolest guy ever. 'Bold As Love' is not as exhaustive as Gleebeck's 'Electric Gypsy', but it offers a more candid look at the JH legend . If you thought 'Electric Gypsy' was a little Chandler/Kramer heavy, you might enjoy this perspective. In fact, 'Bold As Love' would be a nice companion to 'Electric Gypsy'. Worth twenty bucks just for the photos.

This book gives an in depth history of this legendary band from New Jersey. In talks about the band before they were signed up to 1994. It goes in depth about the bands relationship when it was on the rocks in the early 90's and also dedicates an entire chapter to the dispute between bon jovi and skid row. it is written by someone who has followed the band for years and is a respected hard rock journalist. From their first appearence at the Monsters of Rock in donnington to the moscow peace festival this book has it all. For people interested in illustration, there are plenty of pictures as well. other great books by this author include Motley Crue: Lude Crude and Rude

Can you get any better than straight from his mouth?
When I read this book I was surprised to find it was full of quotes from the world's greatest singer. That's basically all it is, and it was great. Surprising insights on the singers personality. It includes his thoughts on other bands, thoughts on his own band, insights on how he deals with fame, and stuff about himself. A must-read for hard-core fans. It also has a lot of great pictures, though they are all in black and white.
